Colson is a high school angler from Owasso, Oklahoma who is passionate about bass fishing.  Colson’s love for fishing began in a little ‘ole pond on his grandpa’s farm, catching the same five fish over and over again.  He could never get enough, and when it was time to go it was always, “just one more cast”.  Colson moved on to fishing in a bigger pond when his family moved to a new house in the country.  Rain or shine, the pond was always where he could be found – in the early morning before school and returning the second he got back home.  As his love for fishing grew, his borders extended to the nearest lake, begging his dad for a boat and a way to get there.  Most kids his age ask for gaming consoles for Christmas, but not Colson – rods, reels, and all the latest equipment always top his list. 

If he’s not fishing, he’s learning how to get better. He has several mentors on speed dial, family and professional anglers and is always asking them questions to expand his knowledge and techniques.  While most of fishing is fun and recreational, it can also bring challenges and broken boats and equipment.  Colson has a unique ability beyond his years to problem solve and fix things, while remaining calm and steady.

Colson’s character is rivaled only by his work ethic.  In a character award he won recently at school, it was said of him that he walks with integrity, kindness and a teachable spirit.  He has a strong academic record and enjoys math and science.  When he’s not on the water, he enjoys church, hanging with friends, playing basketball for his school and finds time to squeeze in a game of Hunter, Call of the Wild every now and then.

Colson’s aspiration is to fish at the collegiate level while pursuing a degree in conservation and wildlife management.  He dreams of fishing professionally one day.

For 2024, Colson will be competing in the Oklahoma High School Fishing Series, MLF High School Series Open, Oklahoma Bass Nation Series and the Big Bite Challenge Series.
